KnowNow Event Explorer Utility


Overview

The Event Explorer Utility allows you to navigate through event topics and topic information. You can view, delete, or create topics and sub-topics using the navigation tree. Or, you can view and edit events using the Event Information tab on the Event Explorer screen.

Installation

The Event Explorer comes pre-packaged with the Router. No further installation is necessary.

Starting the Explorer Utility

To start the Explorer Utility:

  1. Navigate to the URL where the tool is located. You can get the URL information from the Router Utilities start up page.
  2. Login requires HTTP-AUTH as root user. This is reconfigurable in the permissions file or through Authentication and Authorization Module API. For more information, see your KN Event Router administrator.
  3. If the login is successful, the Event Explorer screen appears. See Event Explorer Screen. If the login is not successful, an "Access Denied" message appears.

The Event Explorer screen is divided into the following three frames:

Navigation Tree
  1. Click on a topic to open the tree. Clicking on a topic in the tree subscribes to all subtopics for the selected topic and the subtopics are displayed, if available.
  2. The most recently clicked topic becomes the selected topic.
Topic Information

The Topic Information section of the Event Explorer screen comprises of the following two tabs:

Topic Information

Dynamically displays all available information on a selected topic, including the topic path, number of subscribers to the topic, queue limits, and default expiration time. This information is pulled from kn_statistics.

  1. Click the Delete Topic button to delete the selected topic.
  2. Click the Add Subtopic button to create a new subtopic for the selected topic.
Event Information

The Event Information tab, dynamically displays all Event IDs and timestamps in a selected topic. The Event ID's are displayed in a time order with the newest event displaying on the bottom.

  1. Click on an event in the list to view and edit its properties.
Using the Event Editor

The following buttons can be used on the Event Editor window:

Button

Description

Republish Event with Changes

Saves the changes you made to the event and republishes the event.

Reset to Original Values

Returns all editable fields on the screen to their original value.
