Enter the following line in the TCP/IP file SERVICES, if this has not yet been done:
sql30 7200/tcp
To locate the directory with the SERVICES file, see the documentation for the TCP/IP software type being used.
Please bear in mind that the line must be terminated with a return (CR+LF); i.e., the file end character must not follow immediately at the end of the line. This is required so the TCP/IP software can interpret the line correctly.
The TCP/IP file HOSTS must contain the node names and the addresses of both the database server and the client PC. These must match the names and addresses determined on the server and on the client during installation of the TCP/IP software.
The lines can be structured, for example, as follows:
dbserver 99.99.99.1
client1 99.99.99.2
Ask your network administrator for the valid node names and addresses for your network.
