Administrator Setup (Option /A)

To install the ADABAS tools on the file server, perform the following steps:

1. Start Microsoft Windows by entering WIN at the MS-DOS prompt.

2. Insert the first diskette in drive A (or B).

3. Choose Run from the File menu of the Windows Program Manager.

4. Type A:\setup /A (or B:\setup /A, if you inserted the first diskette in drive B).

The ADABAS setup starts with the message "initializing adabas d setup". After a certain time, a welcome window appears. Choose Continue to go on with the installation.

5. During installation, the setup program will ask for the name of the ADABAS directory (DBROOT).

If you are already running one of the ADABAS tools on the fileserver and merely want to install one more, enter the path and name of the existing ADABAS directory.

If this is the first time you are installing an ADABAS tool on the fileserver, you must choose a target directory as the ADABAS directory to be created in such a way that a directory on the fileserver is addressed.

6. The program files of the ADABAS tools are then copied. You will be asked to insert more installation disks in the drive, if necessary. After inserting the required diskette, confirm with OK.

After installing the ADABAS tools on the network server, the network administrator must ensure that the following access rights are granted for the corresponding program files:

- All files in the ADABAS directory and its subdirectories must be set to "shareable".

- All users who use the network for their work with the ADABAS tools must have read access to all files located in the ADABAS directory and its subdirectories.

Once the ADABAS tools has been installed on the network server by using the administrator setup, the client PCs must be configured to work with the ADABAS tools (see Section Client Configuration).
