Installation of the ADABAS Tools on the Fileserver

As an alternative to the installation on several clients, the ADABAS tools can also be installed on the NetWare Fileserver and be shared by several clients.

To do so, the target directory for ADABAS (DBROOT) must be entered in such a way that a directory on the fileserver is addressed. This directory must be a system area in order to make the ADABAS tools accessible for several clients as well.

This part of installation will typically be made by the NetWare administrator or other person with the required access rights.

Since the installation program is a Windows setup program, installation can only be made from a Windows PC.

The administrator setup comprises the following steps:

- The ADABAS tools will be installed in a network directory (systema area). In some cases, files will be copied to the WINDOWS SYSTEM directory.

- In the ADABAS directory on the network server, a setup directory is created into which all setup files are copied that are required for the installation of the local PCs. The user setup (setup /N) will be started in the setup directory.

Before the ADABAS tools can be installed on the network server by using the administrator setup, the following prerequisites must be met:

- The network must be operative

- You must be logged onto the network

- You must have read and write privileges on the network directory into which you want to install the ADABAS tools

- You must have read and write privileges on theWINDOWS SYSTEM directory
