

To activate REMOTE SQL at a later point in time (e.g., for a later installation of TCP/IP), do the following:
1. Install the TCP/IP software
2. Enter the service name for ADABAS
Add the following line to the TCP/IP file "services":
sql30 7200/tcp
3. Terminate all active SERVERDBs
All SERVERDBs started on the computer must be shut down and stopped if this has not been done yet (CONTROL: SHUTDOWN OFFLINE). Afterwards, CONTROL must be left (EXIT).
4. Call the tool "xtcpupd"
xtcpupd
A menu for the installation or deinstallation of REMOTE SQL is displayed. Press the corresponding function key (e.g.,
) to activate REMOTE SQL. When a message about the successful
installation of REMOTE SQL has been returned, the program can be left using the escape key
.
REMOTE SQL is activated now, enabling the user to access either local or remote SERVERDBs.
If TCP/IP is no longer available (e.g., because it was deinstalled or does not work correctly), REMOTE SQL must be deactivated in order that work with ADABAS can be continued. To do this, the following steps must be performed:
1. Terminate all active SERVERDBs
All SERVERDBs started on the computer must be shut down and stopped if this has not been done yet (CONTROL: SHUTDOWN OFFLINE). Afterwards, CONTROL must be left (EXIT).
2. Call the tool "xtcpupd"
xtcpupd
Press the function key
to deinstall REMOTE SQL. When a message about the successful deinstallation of REMOTE SQL has been returned, the program can be left using the escape key
.
Now REMOTE SQL is deactivated. The user can only access local SERVERDBs.
